The Felicity Dog Training School is located in Fairfax Station, VA on 5 park-like acres. There is a 2400 sq. ft. indoor heated/matted training center and a fenced outdoor area as well.

The Director and Owner, Teresa Patton, has nearly 30 years of training and showing experience in obedience and conformation. She also has over 10 years of training and showing experience in agility. Teresa’s passion for dog training is demonstrated in the nearly 30 breed champions and 30 obedience and agility titles her dogs have earned in the past 25 plus years. She has been tested and certified by the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. She is a member of and is actively involved in the following organizations:

• Professional Member, Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT)
• Founder of Paws for Love, Pet Therapy and Visitation Group

Teresa uses operant conditioning, better known as "Clicker Training". This involves the use of a primary reinforcer (food) and secondary) reinforcer (clicker) to teach the dog appropriate behavior. Owners learn to identify the behavior they want, "click" it, then follow with a "treat". By marking and subsequently rewarding appropriate behavior, it is more likely to occur again. This method enables owners to "take their dogs off welfare" and motivate them to earn their rewards for good behavior. This sets the foundation for a solid training relationship between dog and handler based on mutual respect and love. Teaching strong attention skills is stressed. NO HARSH CORRECTIONS, CHAIN OR PRONG COLLARS ARE PERMITTED. NO FORCE WILL BE USED AT ANY TIME.
